Pauline Ferrand-Prévot Savours Tour de France Femmes Triumph and Sets Final Target for 2025 Season

Tour de France Femmes champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot is still basking in the glow of her July victory, but the French star has already outlined the final steps of her 2025 campaign—and made a firm decision about where her season will end.

While the UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda will not be on her race calendar, she will aim for the European Championships in France this October, which she has now marked as her last competitive goal of the year.

Celebrating Before Refocusing

Speaking to Sporza, Ferrand-Prévot explained that the European Championships’ proximity to her home and its timing made it an ideal way to close her season.

“It’ll be a good goal at the end of the season,” she said. “It’s also close to home, so it fits perfectly with my plan to enjoy my Tour victory, take my time to recover, and then be ready to set other goals.”

The 33-year-old was spotted at Visma–Lease a Bike headquarters in the Netherlands earlier this week, where she celebrated her triumph with teammates, sponsors, and friends.

Changing Her Mind About 2026

In the days immediately following her Tour win, Ferrand-Prévot hinted that she might skip a title defence due to the physical and mental demands of training and racing at the highest level. But a few weeks of reflection have altered her outlook.

“I want to fight again to win it,” she told L’Équipe. “I really enjoyed the relationship with the public at the Tour de France—it was incredible. I loved seeing the little children on the side of the road holding signs.”

Her decision means fans can already look forward to seeing her back in the peloton for the 2026 Tour de France Femmes, ready to defend her crown.

European Championships: Final Showdown of 2025

This year’s European Championships will take place in the Auvergne–Rhône–Alpes region of south-east France, near Valence. The 116.1km women’s elite road race will feature 1,570 metres of climbing, beginning in Privas with an ascent of the Col du Mouin à Vent before heading toward Guilherand-Granges for a demanding finishing loop studded with short, punchy climbs.

A Glittering Palmarès

Ferrand-Prévot’s road race in Valence will be just one more chapter in an already remarkable career. She has:

  • Two European mountain bike titles

  • Olympic gold

  • A Tour de France Femmes title

  • 12 elite World Championship victories across multiple cycling disciplines

Despite her dominance, another set of rainbow bands is not on the agenda this season.

Sticking to the Original Plan

The decision to skip the World Championships in Rwanda was made early in the year and remains unchanged.

“That was already the initial plan at the beginning of the year,” she told Sporza. “I really want to enjoy this victory and take my time to recover and be ready to set other goals. So, I’m happy with the choice I made. I’m going to stick with it.”

Ferrand-Prévot’s 2025 season, then, will end on home soil—her Tour de France Femmes triumph still fresh in the public’s memory, her eyes fixed on one last podium before she resets for 2026 and the chance to do it all over again.
